FAQs

Can I participate as a walker?

Absolutely! Walkers are encouraged to participate. Walkers are encouraged to do the 1 and 2 mile fitness walks.

How old does my child have to be to participate in the 5K runs?

We are requested that participants in the 5K be at least 8 years old. However, with proof of the ability to run a 5k in under an hour may be considered to participate. (proof meaning; currently in a summer track program, run a previous 5k under an hour and currently training with runs up to 2 miles).

Are handcycles or other wheeled transport supported?

No. Currently, we do not offer a wheeled division in any of our races.

Will my T-shirt shrink?

All shirts, will have some shrinkage. T-Shirts are pre-shrunk 50/50 material. However, all shirts will have some shrinkage, you should dry on a low temperature.

What if I order one size of T-shirt and then decide I want to get a different size.

You will be given a T-shirt size that is indicated on the registration form. After registration has closed you will have the opportunity at that time to change the size if that size is available.

How do I add options to my registration if I have already registered?

Contact a staff member at the registration table on the day of the race.

When can I pick up my race packet?

Early packet pick up and late registration will be held at Bosque Running Shop (6001 Winter Haven Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120 :: Coors & Montano) mapon Friday, June 23, 2017 from 10am - 7pm.
Race Day registration and packet pick up will be at SIPI gym starting at 6:30 am on June 24, 2017.

How do participants get to the race?

From I-25: West on Paseo del Norte to Coors exit. Go south on Coors to first stop light (Frontage Rd) and turn left (east) Continue ½ mile on to school campus.
From I-40: North on Coors 5 miles to Frontage Rd and stop light. Turn right (east) ½ miles onto school campus.
*A RAM Service Station and SIPI sign is located at the stop light. SIPI campus is directly east of the intersection.

Are electronics like headphones allowed while running in the race?

Headphones with listening devices ARE permitted on the course for non-competitive participants, but strongly discouraged for safety reasons. While we discourage their use, music devices with headphones are permitted for participants not in competition for any awards. We ask that you leave one ear bud out and turn down the volume so that you may hear what is happening around you. Participants competing for awards, medals, or prize money may not use any technology or appliance that provides the user an unfair advantage. Competitors should review USATF Competition Rule 144.3 for compliance details.

I am Native American, however I would prefer to enter the Open Community Run, am I allowed to do this?

Yes. As a Native American you are eligible to enter either division, the Native American Championship division or the Open Community Division. HOWEVER, you are not allowed to enter both.

What are the average high/low temperatures on race day?

Average High: 91 Fahrenheit

Where do I meet my family & friends?

You can arrange to meet your family and friends at the Finish Line Festival area (starting line).

When will race results be posted?

Results will be posted on the site as soon as they are available after the event.

Who does the event benefit?

100% of race proceeds support Sports Warriors Track Club's mission and goals.

What if I have been told that I have Native American heritage in my family lineage, am I eligible to enter the Native American Division?

You are only eligible to enter the Native American division if you can show proof of tribal enrollment or recognition from your specific tribes administration stating they recognize you as a tribal member. 
 

What amount of Native American blood to I have to possess to be eligible for the Native American championship divisions? 

There is no required amount.  If your tribe has issued you any type of documentation stating they recognize you as a tribal member you are eligible for the Native American Division.
 

Do I send in  a copy of my tribal membership with the registration form?

No.  We do not require any tribal membership forms.  However, should anyone request that you provide the documentation our committee will review the documents for a formal decision.  Should there be any lack of, questions or discrepancies of your documentation you may be declared ineligible for this division and all awards earned forfeited.
